Out Now: Russian Classics Vol. 2 April 13 2018

At the start of the XVII Moscow Easter Festival Orchestra, the Mariinsky Label is proud to announce the latest instalment of a series celebrating the finest Russian Classical music.

Russian Classics looks at some of the most celebrated music from Russia's rich artistic history, such as Rachmaninov's beautiful Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, the delicate Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker score and Mussorgsky's masterpiece, Pictures at an Exhibition. Out today, it's now available to listen to on Apple Music & Spotify to download from iTunes.

The Moscow Easter Festival is one of the highlights of the classical music calendar worldwide, and this year runs from 8th April to 8th May. Across the festival, Music Director Valery Gergiev conducts an incredible range of repertoire in major concert halls across Russia. Many of these performances will be broadcast online via Mariinsky.tv. In April, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra will also visit China to perform a series of works by Modest Mussorgsky, an innovator of Russian music in the Romantic period. You can book tickets now via Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts website.
